Compton Quilting Services is located at our home in Weybridge Surrey. We have 2 Gammill hand-guided longarm quilting machines – a Gammill Optimum Plus, imported in 2003, and a Gammill Classic Plus since 2008, each with it’s own Intelliquilter system.
Prior to longarm quilting, I did my City and Guilds Parts 1 & 2, followed by a Diploma in Stitched Textiles all at Windsor. I enjoyed free machine quilting on my Bernina but became frustrated by the difficulties of quilting larger quilts and when I first saw a working longarm machine, I knew this was what I wanted to do.
Since importing the machine, I’ve worked on hundreds of quilts, initially on my own, but now am fortunate to have Don’s help with everything from ironing and pinning on the quilts to machine maintenance and pantograph quilting.
At the end of 2006, we ventured into a new area with an Intelliquilter computer driven quilting system. This means that we are now able to resize patterns to fit specific blocks or borders and has greatly increased the range and complexity of patterns we have available.
We both thoroughly enjoy the time we spend quilting and the chance to meet so many interesting people and quilts. It’s a great pleasure to know we have had a hand in so many celebrations and gifts, from special occasions requiring hand-made baby quilts right up to quilted bedspreads for custom, large-size beds.
If you would like to contact us to discuss your quilting requirements, we can promise you an enthusiastic reception.
