Pantograph Quilting
Your quilt can have an edge-to-edge design applied with our Gammill long arm machine. Some current patterns are available in the gallery, but for more details please contact us.
Thread
We have a range of cotton threads from all quality manufacturers in both solid and variegated colours. The cost of thread is included in the quilting charge.
Finishing
After quilting, we will trim the edges of your quilt level with the edge of your top. If you prefer us to leave your top untrimmed, please let us know when your quilt is booked in.
Backing Fabric
It is very important to ensure your backing fabric is 4” larger than your top in all directions. If for any reason this is not possible, we will add temporary leaders to your backing to facilitate the quilting. There will be a charge of £10 for this procedure. Any joining seam should have a ½” seam allowance, pressed open.
NB Please remove selvedge edges from any internal seams on your backing, as they will shrink more when washed and may cause distortion of your quilt backing.
We have a large range of extra wide fabrics suitable for backings in stock,
including calico, neutrals and plain colours as well as floral and textured
prints, from well-known manufacturers such as Moda, Benartex and G &
J Williams.
These extra wide fabrics are normally 108” wide.

Wadding
If you send wadding with your quilt top, please ensure that it is between 3” and 6” larger than your top in all directions. i.e. if the quilt top measures 60” x 80”, the wadding should be no smaller than 63” x 83”.

Any extra wadding is returned with your quilt.
Binding
We can attach your binding to your quilt, if required, either to the front
only, for you to complete by hand, or hand-sewn to the back of your quilt.
We use 2½” folded strips of fabric to provide a double binding.
If you require this service, please send sufficient uncut fabric to make
the length required -eg ½m of fabric will provide enough binding for
280” of edging to allow for turnings and mitres. Please refer to the
price list to determine the cost of adding on binding, calculated on the
size of your quilt.
Custom Quilting
We can secure your quilt by stitching in the ditch around your blocks and borders, enabling you to further hand or machine quilt them yourself. We can apply custom borders to your quilt, and provide various scales /styles of meandering for filling background areas, eg loops, stars, hearts, or leaves. We have a range of coordinating blocks and border/sashing designs which complement a quilt where pantograph designs are not suitable or desired.
Quilting By Intelliquilter
It is now possible for us to resize pantograph and block patterns using our new computer driven system. Contact us if you would like a demonstration of the new range of patterns and resizing options.
Basting
Your top, wadding and backing can be basted together with large, easy-to-remove stitches, ready for you to hand or machine quilt yourself. Prices start at £25.00 depending on the size of your quilt.

These prices are current as at February 2008 but are subject to change. If you require your quilt to be completed urgently - ie within 7 days- there is a ‘rapid response’ charge of £25.
Completed quilts may be collected at a mutually convenient time or posted back to you using your choice of postal service. Alternatively, if you prefer us to deliver your quilt within a 30 mile radius we make a charge to cover petrol of £20-30.
